So what with it being half term we decided to start things off with a healthy walk up Moel Famau last Saturday. From our coastline home in Hoylake on the Wirral we could see that the vast majority of the snow had melted the prior week. As a slight aside, we had about as much snow as there is icing sugar on a sponge cake!
So, when we got to the car park at Moel Famau country park we were a little suprised to spot the odd patches of slushy snow. After a quick lunch in the car off we set off with the aim of walking up to the tower. Our young daughters were finding the snow covered path (there was a fair covering) a bit tricky but we boldy ventured onwards and upwards. But by the time we reached the junction were you can turn left off the red and onto the blue route we thought it best to call it a day for the sake of the younger ones. As there was no wind it was sensationally quiet …absolutely, wonderfully quiet!
We meandered back down carefully and avoided any slippages. Must return soon.

me and my wife and 3 other friends walked up on sunday 8th march. we started in the car park around 11am. it was a nice sunny day with no wind. it took us around 1 hr 30mins to reach the top after many stops (very unfit haha)!! we sat on the tower for about 10mins when all of a sudden the wind started then the snow!! within about 3mis it was a blizzard 60 mile an hour winds!! we had to make are way down to get shelter. it was all good fun but very cold. as we got half way down the wind and snow stopped and it was a sunny day again. it ended in the car park with a warm drink from the food van. great day out!! will be back again!!

Thanks for the comment Paul !
It just goes to show how quick the weather can change so you need to have the right clothing with you.
I’m on the Wirral and it was as windy as you like yesterday!
Cheers
John
